So I applied for CEC in sep, app was recvied sep 8, no AOR yet, expected by dec 7, I will be applying for BOWP without AOR paper application on nov 28th, my current PGWP expires nov 30th, however, when I applied for CEC I sent my old passport photocopy which expires on nov 2015 and now when I apply for BOWP I want to use my new passport which is valid for 5 yrs but at least I will get an exact 1 yr of bowp, otherwise if I use the old passport I will only get 10 months hoping that I will get my BOWP in 60 days so end of jan. now CIC has my old passport, can I use the new passport to apply for BOWP and then when I get my AOR I can send them the photocopy of my new passport?

Yes I guess you can do that and don't see any problem doing it unless you don't provide the new passport details once you get your AOR.

I used my old passport that was expiring after 8 months to apply for BOWP. I was not aware of the repurcussions and did not even notice passport expiry date of end of feb 15. They issue me BOWP till the expiry of my passport but mention on the BOWP letter that its only issued till then due to passport expiry and i can apply for an extension with the new passport.

If you have sufficient time, I would suggest applying with the new passport itself since your BOWP will only be issued until your passport expiry date and renewing your BOWP later on would be just another hassle.

This is not an issue.
I applied for BOWP last May 2014 using my new passport issued March 2014. I updated CIC (for the CEC application) of this new passport details only last July 2014, way after the BOWP was issued and even after using it when I went to the US.
