Hello Mrs. Turan,

Has your husband made it to Canada yet? Was everything smooth? I hope all is well with you.


Am going to Turkey in 7 days and I can hardly wait to see my husband again. The phone calls just do not cut it! This last week has been a bad one.

Awww nice to hear you are going to Turkey. Keep your tickets and take lots of photos. Be ready to send in more evidence to Ankara.
My husband is coming in 2 weeks, Xmas day. He'd have been here sooner but he had a really big job there in Istanbul, and he had a contract, so he couldn't come earlier. It's ok. He'll be here soon. I'm so happy. I feel so lucky to have a man who loves me so much. Now that we know he's coming, a lot of the stress is gone, and our conversations are so much more sweet. I talk to his family more now too. I just feel more at peace.

They have set an interview date for my husband in early January!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell me how it was for your husband? How long was it? Did he bring any additional documents?

What kind of questions did they ask? He has to bring his own interpreter.

He doesn't need to bring his own interpreter. You just need to tell them you want the interview conducted in Turkish. They will probably test his English a little bit. The questions are not really extreme. Just practice going over the basics. He needs to know all about you and your family. Where you live. I've seen some helpful things on here, where somebody wrote all the possible questions they could ask. There are no trick questions. If he knows you well he won't have a problem answering the questions. Just tell him to be calm.
My husband was really upset after the interview. I'm not sure what she thought of him. She seemed to think he was hiding things, but he's just not very forthcoming about his personal life. I think its more of a cultural thing, but I should have stressed to him how important it was to be open about his personal feelings.
In his mind I think, he tried to stress to them about work because he thought that was important to show how he would provide for us. But I think talking about how much he loves you is important to express. Dates are important. Something we found out too late

Hello anyone working with the Ankara office,

Just so you know... they are AWESOME to deal with so far! My husband has his interview next week which they informed me by email a few weeks ago and then they called to follow up and confirm that he was attending. At this time I spoke to the immigration officer and she was friendly and positive.

They let us know to bring in more proof if we have it but no need to submit documents from before.

If the applicant does not speak English or Turkish, they must bring their own interpreter (FYI).

This visa office is fast and friendly.

Hi all. CIC has announced that all new Family Class Sponsorship files from Iran, which used to be sent to Damascus, are going to be sent to Ankara. As a result, I think I should join this thread and learn from your experinece. Very useful info so far, esp. regarding the interview process.

Thank you Ms. X. I definitly ask for your advice when it is our turn for interview.

I believe, in cases like these (Officer being super rude), all 5 people should send complaint letter to CIC or Ankara Visa Office (if afraid of not getting the visa/approval, after the whole process is over and done with).

Our files (Iranians ) have newly transferred to Ankara. Non of us has invited for interview up to now. Are you invited for an interview? When did you apply?

heyyyy yes my husband had his interview a couple of weeks ago and he was told to waite for a reply within 2 month...we filed our application last feb 2011....

..When my husband had his interview, we asked for it to be
done in Turkish. They provided the translator. They didn't believe my husband married me for any other reason but to come to Canada.
That's awesome that you got a visitor visa, my husband was refused everytime, I think twice. I moved to Turkey to be with my husband after he was refused his PR. I lived there for almost 7 months until the appeal hearing, in Vancouver. I learned the Turkish language better and loved it there
After I came back to Canada I won my appeal hearing. My husband was present via telephone conference. The appeal hearing lasted over 5 hours. It was awful. But the judge looked at our photo evidence, heard our testimony and believed us.
So happy to hear you get to visit lots. Being apart is soooo hard!!!

Our visa office is Ankara too.! But first of all they have to approve my sponsorship in Mississauga.

Good luck to you Galip! Approval for your sponsorship is not that difficult. I was approved within 5-6 weeks I think. It wasn't long anyways, it may be longer now. Who knows! After that it all gets transferred
to Ankara, this is where they start looking deeply into the information and judging the relationship. My husband was given an interview date within a relatively fast time, like about 3 months. It didn't go very
well with his interview but we just didn't realize how critical it was. They already had all the information
we had filled out in the application, we just didn't think there was a bias from the start. They didn't believe
we had very much in common, as my husband was Muslim and our backgrounds were a little different. In our minds it was these differences that attracted us to each other. Plus there was the language difference. I learned Turkish and he didn't really learn English (he's still learning now
