I wish you a Happy American Thanksgiving no matter which side of the border you are on!

Resent the process some of the time and the hurdles most of the time but always remember you are truly thankful for your relationship.

Well put tgchi13! Happy Thanksgiving!! I am always thankful for my husband, and hopefully by the next one, we will be together again! Best wishes to all of you!

I was just thinking the same thing earlier!! Obviously it shows our devotion and love and struggles. Ah well.

NYCtoNB, I'm glad for you both!

This is the first one in five years we've actually been apart. It's tough, because it's such an important holiday for Americans and for my guy it has lots of personal significance. But hey! He ate enough turkey to almost be sick, so everything is on track ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving! I am really thankful for all the close once who has been with me all the process through, patient and supportive. :)

Same here... except it's the first in three years. He was upset missing all the turkey and pie and such! But I told him, at least he got his Canadian Thanksgiving, haha!

i am so sorry you guys have to be apart i know how hard it is. i'm not looking forward at all to him going back to Nb on the 7th

this is the first time for him to come down here with me,i usually go to him and we spend six months apart. this is the longest we have ever been together in one straigh run. when my 6 months up there ran out he came here for three (most allowed by medicaid for some reason).
he spent his first canadian thanksgiving away from his family and i cooked him a huge thanksgiving dinner that he loved and made him feel less home sick. doing it again today he lit up and smiled and said "see another reason american women make good canadian wives two thanksgivings."
i don't want him to go

NYCtoNB, that sounds like something my guy would say! He loves going to Thanksgiving at my mom's and then I always do (and always will) a special one for his Thanksgiving.

Thanks for making me laugh, even if it made you a little sad.

NYCtoNB - Sounds like our hubbys would be best of friends ;-)

I *think* that might apply to (what know as) supplemental coverage (like if he has additional benefit coverage for drugs - most prescriptions will only be filled in 90 day increments.

The Medicare in NB doesn't look like it has a 90 day limitation:

he called before he left the country because you are suppsoed to let them know you are going to be away they told him that he would only have health issurance for 3 months here.
but they also told him marrying someone who wasnt canadian wasn't allwoed or was frowned upon or some crazy nonsense that made me need a smoke after
who knows
i have come to hate the phone in dealing with all of this

lol (really)! Whenever I'm asked why I started smoking (after he returned to the States in July) I say: Because I can't drink at work ;-)

I hate the phone too. Which is tough. He likes the phone for dealing with people because he's good with negotiating (for lack of a better word at this time of night). I like having the words in writing.

Told he wasn't allowed to marry an American...OMGawd.

i just showed that link to my husband, this is the most upset i've seen him in a very long time.
all over a pointless lie we will never understand.

thank you for the info though, and i hope that link can help some one else in the future so they dont have to go through this

Hahaha, you can marry exactly anyone you want except your family or minors in Canada... Ridiculous statement about not being allowed.
