Hi everyone,

Hoping someone here can help with my query. I have just started researching moving to Canada (I have always wanted to move there but assumed I would need to complete my nursing degree first to get a visa), however I was looking at moving there as a Care Assistant/Support Worker ( I have been working in a home for adults with learning disabilities for 2 years) and have savings of 14,000 canadian dollars. I am 23 and have been married to my husband for 4 years (He is 32, has a steady job as a General Manager of a hotel) so he would be coming with me as a dependant. I did the online calculator which stated I was eligible to apply for express entry, however my job category is only a C and I then read that ‘C’ class cannot apply for express entry, Would anybody be able to clarify this? We would be looking to move to Nova Scotia and I have also heard that securing a job offer would majorly enhance your prospects, but I wondered if this would be possible as care job providers tend to want an applicant to start ASAP, not wait up to 6 months for their visa to be granted.

I also had a look at my husbands job category and his job as a manager is classed as ‘0’ which is eligible for skilled entry. I guess we would have a better chance if he applied for the visa and I came as the dependent?

If anybody could help me out I would be most grateful!!

Thanks

Caitlin

Yes, the only way for you to do it is for your husband to apply as the primary applicant, and you as his dependent. That, or there are care giver specific application streams that you may want to look into.
