Hi all.

I've come across a bridging program for IMGs, which could benefit getting job related to medicine field.

There is a program known as "Internationally Trained Medical Doctors (ITMD) Bridging Program" which is offered by Ryerson University, Toronto.

It says that a candidate need to study for around 12 weeks in this program, after which he would be enable to get integrated in health sector, such as health research methodology, health informatics, data management, etc.

I'm sharing this link to get extra info on this. If anyone has any more knowledge about this program, then please let us know. Helping others would make their paths easier. After all, sharing is caring, isn't it? :)

Any insights into this will be highly appreciated.

Hello friends,

In continuation with the previous thread, I'd like to give some insights into another service available for IMDs/IMGs.

This program is called 'Career Transitions for International Medical Doctors'

Program Description
The Career Transitions for International Medical Doctors (IMD) program provides sector-specific employment preparation and counseling services and employer outreach specific to internationally trained physicians. These services assist IMDs in accessing alternative employment in the health sector that makes effective use of their skills.

Sector-specific Employment Preparation Program

The program provides information that helps IMDs become aware of their options for alternative employment in the health care sector. In this way they are better able to make timely decisions about career direction and to create realistic action plans for employment goals.

Counselling Services

Counsellors provide one-on-one counseling to International medical Doctors to assist them in refining their portfolio and in developing their individual career action plans.

Employer Outreach

The project partners have contacted health sector employers in Ottawa, Toronto and Hamilton and are working with them to find employment exposure opportunities in the workplace. Working together, the project partners and employers are exploring possibilities for full- and part-time positions, co-op placements, volunteering and mentoring.

You can just follow this link and gain knowledge regarding this program.

Hope this helps.

Hi JVP2212,

Nice thread!

However, I am not sure if after completion of the course the participants can practice medicine. Working as a healthcare manager will be one of the better options. I shall also research on this and we can discuss.

BTW what is your status as far as immigrating to Canada is concerned? Have you received your PR? I have applied for the PR under FSW and awaiting results. I remember you asking me about my status in one of my threads.

cheers

Hi Dr_K

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I've been searching for the admission requirements for this, and came to know the criteria you mentioned above.

In fact, any study course will require academic ielts to be taken with minimum required results. This program is no option to this.

Regarding my timeline, I've written it in my profile. You can view it. I'm at the same stage as yours, waiting for my PR visa.

I'll keep posting if I find anything new info. I'd request you to do the same too. This will help us medicos worldwide.

Thanks.
