Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi,

I have a friend in a difficult situation, he will soon have his PR via Common-Law Sponsorship however as he knows if they relationship breaks down he will have to leave the country as that's the correct process to follow.

He has been working here for 3 years now and his job is on the NOC list and it looks like he can also apply via the CEC route....

So what can he do in this current situation as I know Common-Law Route and the CEC Route are two very different categories for applying.

Can he get his Common Law PR and then apply via the CEC Route? Will that show in their system that he already has PR via Common Law? Will he have to somehow reject his PR Status for common law first before applying via CEC?

??? ??? ???

If he has PR status granted via sponsorship, there is no possibility of gaining PR status by any other method unless he formally loses his existing PR status. Nor can he apply for any other visa or work permit. It would be far better to abort the existing application and reapply from the beginning under CEC.
