Almost 5 months since study permit application, and still no decision

hello everyone, so I applied for a study permit on 16-May-2023,
did my biometrics at VFS Global on 28-May-2023
received BVL correspondence letter on 23-Jul-2023
and haven't gotten an update since. On my application status page it is showing "
Latest update:
Final decision - July 23, 2023:Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.
"
I have sent a webform and they responded by saying "We’re experiencing a high volume of requests, so our response may be delayed. We’ll respond to your inquiry as soon as possible."
My program starts in January 2024 and I'm getting nervous because I paid my first term in full and don't really plan to risk losing funds if I don't receive a response by time.
What do you think I should do.
P.S: I'm a Sudanese national currently residing in Egypt.

If you don't get any update by the 1st week in December, kindly contact your school to defer your intake to the next available one.

We share similar case I applied in June 12 and only got medical request on September 14 and medical passed October 18, BVL OCTOBER 19 till date no updates all I can see is
Lastest update: 0ctober 19 final decision your application is in progress
In so nervous I had to defer cuz I applied for September 23 intake

I have the same case. I have applied on september 11, 2023 for january intake but still no update. Final decision is in progress. Can somebody help me about it how much time i should wait??? Does it mean file refused or not??
