Hello
I have PR status in Canada and my wife and kids recently entered Canada from US by land. They are US citizens.
As US visitors they did not need a visa to enter Canada, however they allowed to stay for six months as there is no stamp on their passport when they entered Canada.
I tried to apply for them for Alberta Health coverage under my account.
First I visited a registry office, they informed me that they cannot get coverage until they complete one year of stay!!
Then after a period of time I went to another registry where they informed me that yes they can get coverage under my account as spouse if they have legal entitlement in Canada as (study, work, visa ) permit.
but they need to bring their passports shown entry stamp and application must be submitted within 90 days of their arrival whereas there was 5 days left before completing the 90 days period.
I told them they do not have stamp ,and I asked if we can bring a document from Canadian Boarder agency in Ottawa declaring their entry. The clerk called Health service and they said No. entry stamp is only accepted.
Now, the 90 days passed. and I will apply for visa extension for them soon.
My question is when they get visa extension ,will they still eligible for Alberta Health coverage ? or they missed chance since 90 days of their arrival have already passed.
Thank you
