I know its a random question but I have been trying to find an answer.
I was living in Alberta till November 2015 before I moved back to India. I have class 5 - GDL licence which is issued in April 2015 and expiring in June 2017. I have been invited in Express entry and planning to move back to Ontario by December 2017.
In short :
Alberta driving license : April 2015 - June 2017
Planning to move to Ontario : Nov-Dec 2017.

Will I be able to exchange my license in Ontario? or Do I have to start application as a new driver and get a G1?

You cannot exchange Expired driving license. You have to start from the beginning.

As they clearly stated in their website that to exchange you need valid out of province license. Valid means not expired.

You can try. As long as it expired less than a year ago, it should be accepted. Worse case scenario, it is accepted as proof of 2 years of driving experience, you take the eye exam, do a drive test, and get your full license.

Thats what I am hoping for. I cannot start again at G1 and wait 1 year before I can drive.
Thanks for reply.
Were you able to exchange your expired driver's license then?
