I have seen that when I arrive in Canada while my PR app is pending, I should have a return ticket in my possession.

The thing is, I will be leaving Bermuda for Canada, and it would make more sense for me to carry a single ticket to the UK which is my home country. Any reason a one-way won't be just as acceptable?

Assuming that is ok, can anyone advise what date I should have on the ticket? Six months after arrival? What happens if the ticket expires while I am in Canada and before my application is complete?

Thanks.

My step-son arrived for a visit without a return ticket.

We told the border officer that he had an application underway, but was a visitor until it was finalized.

It was not a problem, though my step-son is from the US, so your mileage may vary.

My son who is a Canadian citizen and also holds British passport nearly got denied the flight back from the U.k. because he didn't have a return ticket .

Canadian passport ran out so he used his British we had to go home for a funeral , coming back they wouldn't let him check in unless he could prove he was Canadian . Luckily for us i had a copy of his Canadian passport on my phone. Husband coming end of month for a 6 months visit to wait out his application he is going to have a return ticket for 6 months time. If he gets PR before then he won't need it ,or he will extend his visitors record.

Its just a chance you have to take . Many also has flown with out a return ticket.
