Hi everyone

I just thought I start a new topic with updated timelines related to AINP- SRS category. This timeline review will enable us to understand the processing time for this category, post the updated change in processing time that came in to effect on Feb 11th 2014.

Here are my details this far. I graduated in December 2013 from a Masters program here in Edmonton, and started work early Jan. I will keep this board posted with updated as soon as they are available. Please share your timeline for everyone to see in such a way that we are here to support each other and to offer insights based on each individuals personal experience.

My timeline is as follows:
Date submitted: April 1, 2014
Mode of submission: Drop-in
Submission region: Edmonton, AB
E-mail conformation: April 16th, 2014
File Number: Yet to receive
AINP Nomination: ?

Please share your thoughts and timeline as well for those of you who applied after the Feb 11th, 2014 updated processing time.

Thanks and all the best to each and everyone of you.

Although I reveived my application-received conformation today, April 15th 2014, I did receive an generic email yesterday, April 15th 2014 stating the following:

Thank you for your application to the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). This email will give you information on what to do if your work permit is close to expiring while your AINP application is in process. The AINP will not expedite the processing of an application if a work permit is close to expiring.

[size=10pt]It is the responsibility of you and your employer to make sure that your work permit remains valid. To work in Canada temporarily, you must have a valid work permit. If you currently hold a valid work permit and need to extend it while your AINP application is in process, follow these three steps:

1. Your employer must apply for a new Labour Market Opinion (LMO).

2. Your employer must provide you with a copy of the approved LMO and job offer.

3. You must then submit a work permit application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). It is important that you apply for your new work permit before your old work permit expires. You can then keep working on what is called implied status. Implied status means that you can keep working for your employer until you receive a decision from CIC on your new work permit application.

In a small number of cases, you may be exempt from requiring an LMO. If you are exempt, you would only need to complete the third step and apply directly to CIC for a new work permit.

Visit the CIC website for more information on how to extend your work permit and to obtain the application form and document checklist. Make sure that you and your employer start the process of applying for a new LMO and work permit several months in advance of your work permit expiry date. It takes time to get an LMO and a new work permit. Do not wait for the AINP to make a decision on your application before you and your employer start the process of getting a new work permit.

Visit the Immigration Help Centre online if you have additional questions on this or other immigration topics.

However, this generic email does not apply to me at this time, since I have my PGWP valid till late 2016.

Hi Qi

I am trying to compute the processing time involved in each stage in this category for applications submitted after Feb 11 2014.

This would give applicants (post that date) a rough idea as to how long each phase would take in a timeline format.

Hoping this would be beneficial for all applicants under this category that applie for their AINP nomination.

they don't counting the time in that way.
Feb 11 processing time apply on all the applications who haven't received the nominee before Feb 11. not based on the application date.

Thanks Moe for the timeline....looks like both of ours should happen around the same time. I will keep you posted on this forum as and when I get any update. I am expecting (hoping) to get the file number by sometime next month, and hopefuly nomination by sometime in July.

Let me know how things go at your end, or if you know of someone who applied recently under the same criteria.

Thanks again.

Hi

My timeline is as follows:

AINP Post graduate category

Application sent : Mar 7, 2014
File number : May 1, 2014
Still waiting for the nomination

In general, it took 1 month to be nominated after we receive a file number. But I am waiting for more than 2 months since I got the file number.
How long does it take to be nominated under SRS Post graduate category?

Is there anyone who has the similar timeline as me?
please give me some advice
