If you split up. What happens then? My wife and I received our PR (she's Canadian) in May 15. The toll it took on us pushed us away from each other. She has mentioned going to immigration and letting them know we are finished. How will that effect my status??

Depends - do you have conditional PR?

I'm sorry to hear that.. :(

I have my PR card. The process is complete.

I understand that already.

But is your PR conditional? Does your COPR have Condition 51 written on it?

It doesn't. It does say we have to be in a relationship for 2 years after we came PR though.

In that case you do in fact have condition PR. If you don't remain in a relationship with your sponsor for 2 years after you become PR, your PR status may be revoked.

That's upsetting. I have started my life here now. I hope we can get back together. If she does go through with this. I'm guessing it's not as simple as sending an email?

It actually is as simple as sending an email. If she contacts CIC and tells them you are no longer living together, they will open an investigation to determine if you meet the conditional PR requirements.

Also what are the requirements? I'm working full time. Also taking my real estate licence as we speak.

The conditional PR requirements? To live with your spouse for 2 years.

I'm on the lease still. I pay half of her rent for her. Like I say hopefully she won't go through with it. We will see though.

At the time the visa came through as well we had split up. And she came to the interview and lied as well. Would she get into trouble in regards to that as well??

She really wouldn't get in trouble.

But this means you obtained PR through misrepresentation - which is very serious.

We got together a month later. And like I say we only have 6 months until we had lived together for 2 years, after the PR came through. Just worried. Hopefully she won't do anything.
