I got an email from CIC that they have received the results of my medicals and are ready to proceed with my file so I should present myself at the embassy. please what does this mean? does it mean my visa has been approved

I think it is an invitation for interview.

It varies from country to country but most countries don't require interview. But there are exceptional cases. If you didn't submit any fraudulent documents and your intention is to study only then no need to fear.By the way which country are you from?

I am just asking because I haven't heard of anyone going for an interview for a study permit in my country.
I am from Ghana

Did they give you a date and time? If not they probably would want to see you physically and give you the visa.

Fact that they even asked you to submit medicals is a really good sign. I think the interview is so that the visa officer can be 100% sure you are a student before issuing the visa as unfortunately some people may have "perfect" study permit applications but when interviewed in real life their case falls apart as it becomes apparent that they really just wanted to go and work in Canada. So if everything of yours is in order and true, then Im pretty sure you'll get the visa.
