Hell all,

I would appreciate if any forum members have been in the same dilemma as I am in right now or come across a situation that is similar to mine. I am getting married soon and will be applying for the Permanent Residency for my spouse. The process in itself is over 6 to 12 months. In the meantime I am thinking of applying for a temporary tourist visa (visitor visa) for my spouse so we can be together as soon as possible. My concern is:

1.) Applying for a PR, will in anyway affect applying for Tourist Visa?
2.) Applying for Tourist(visitor) visa in any way affect applying for PR?

I want to thank you in advance. Happy Holidays to everyone.

1. No. But in tourist visa application, your spouse has to disclose if they have applied for PR.
2. No. But in PR application, spouse has to disclose if they have applied for tourist visa.

Really, the chances of obtaining a visitor visa when your spouse lives in Canada is pretty slim because the visa officer assumes your spouse will not leave at the end of their 'visit'. Truth be told, who would want their spouse to leave again? lol :P
Your spouse will need to show significant ties to his/her home country such as proof of funds, ownership of properties, businesses, long term employment, leave of absence from job, etc. Basically, anything that shows they will leave Canada.
