Dear friends pls give us idea what should we should do after arrival in first two weeks:

1 . Go to college to let them know u r already in Canada
2. Collect the class time table
3. Open bank account
4. Apply tax file no
5. Apply medical card

It is just my idea pls give us a list what we should do first

It will help new comer student

2. Get student photo I.D
3. Get the details for medical card.
4. Understand the transit system
5. Open up Bank account.


What is tax file no ?? You don't have to do anything regarding tax on the starting.

In Canada in is called SIN :D (Social Insurance Number). You will get it when you get permission to apply for WP.
As per new rules a student can work part-time off campus without new visa requirement.can someone suggest if a person have to study and work for 20 hrs per week only after 6 months or can work within 6 months of study in campus.curious to know and confused abt work permit for students.

Hi,
International student also apply for Tax refund. T2202A form.
Your college will guide you in it.
We apply for it every year feb-march.

Just do not forget that tuition paid in November 2013 for winter semester (Jan-Apr 2014) will be considered 2014 (!!) expenses and could be included in tax return for 2014 and not for 2013. :)

Go shopping! :D

You will need to know where to buy groceries and other stuff cheap enough and close to living place. So go "window shopping" to compare prices. :)

its too early to taking after arrival information ... First you have to get the visa... once you got the visa then everything will be easy ..dont worry about it .. the only thing which is hard is to get the visa !!!

I live in BC. Canada is the second largest (after Russia) country in the world. :)
