Hello there

I need your advice on applying through CEC.(Canadian economic class). i was an International student and received my Work Permit on 31 Dec, 2013. I have a job in occupation NOC 2232 from 16 DEC 2013 and will be completing one year experience on 31 DEC, 2014 (if experience is counted from date i receive Work permit).

I want to know that should i Apply for PR on last date of this year (also the last day for current CEC application process) or should apply with new system being launched in Jan 2015 called express entry. I am afraid to apply through this system. Also i went out of country for a month in February.

Thanks in advance for your advice

This seems a tough situation. I would say apply with Express Entry. My perception is Express Entry program will be much beneficial for those who are already in Canada, and have gained experience. Don't rush, and everything will be fine.

I'm in a similar situation, I started my job on January 06, 2014 and will apply in January next year. Let's stay in touch through this forum, so that we can share knowledge on how to better prepare ourselves for Express Entry.

1. If you applied on the 31st of December, your application would not make it to Sydney the same day. If Express Entry starts Jan 1st, your application would be returned.

NOT TRUE.

Express Entry begins January 1, 2015, but FSW and CEC STILL RUN UNTIL APRIL 30, 2015. They will overlap for 4 months. CIC has made this very clear.

OP, go right ahead and try under CEC. What have you got to lose? If it doesn't work out, go for Express Entry.

Just where do you find that FSW and CEC will continue past 01/01/15?

Will skilled immigrants be considered under both the current admissions system and Express Entry in 2015?

No. Each application is assessed according to the eligibility requirements and caps in place at the time CIC receives it. In order to be considered for Express Entry, people will have to apply separately (starting in January 2015) using a new electronic application management system. There will not be any application caps or occupation lists under Express Entry.

Fsw 2014 will overlap with Express Entry. It will run till April 30 2015 or till the 25000 cap is exhausted, whichever occurs first. You are free to apply for Fswnin December and still apply separately for Express entry in January.

There it is.

Im new here. I have some questions..

I applied for AINP this year and still waiting for the nomination and it will take a while for it to be proccessed according to website, like 18-24months.. I want to apply for EE in 2015 but how long will the process be? What will happen to the FSW and PNP applicants who are still waiting for their application to be processed? Will they be assessed first before the EE applicants? Thanks!

Where can we find detailed info on the express entry system?? Any good links?

April end date for current program comes from a gazette published in April of this year (link above). And if that gazette is to be believed then the above statement simply means that applicants will have an option to chose either or both the current system and the express entry system from Jan to April 2015 as long as separate applications are filed for the individual systems.

But, my personal opinion is that at some point before December, CIC will publish a ministerial instruction ending the current program in December (the March gazette leaves this as a possible option). So there won't be confusion anymore.
