Affordable sim option for short landing stays of 1 week

Can anyone pleas suggest how should I go about acquiring sim for calling back home in India and for emergencies in Canada for my short landing stays of just 1 week. I don't want to spend much on Sim considering my short stay.
Kindly suggest.

Try Chatr. It's relatively reasonable though I don't know about their rates to call India. WhatsApp call to India is always a possibility.

For just a week-long stay, can't you do roaming? Put your phone in airplane mode when you don't need it so you don't incur charges when it's idle. Free WiFi is also common, and you can use VOIP.

Get a speakout number from any 7 eleven (https://www.speakout7eleven.ca/). It is a prepaid pay as you go phone. Each top up extends expiration date by 365 days so you can still use it when you come back permanently until you get a phone on contract
