Hi guys,

I used to live in canada for 4 years.. I moved to Ottawa when I was 10 and returned to the UK when I was 14.

As far as I'm aware, I never had PR and I never took citizenship..

My dad and sister still live there... Both are permanent residents and my step mother is a Canadian citizen.

Does my past contribute towards gaining access?

Thank you in advance

Rob

I'm now 36 years old. My dad and sister stayed in Canada and live there to this day and gained PR...
So being there as a youth doesn’t count. Your father could have sponsored you if you were still a dependant (under 22). You have to immigrate through economic programs like Express Entry.

At best, if you went to secondary school in Canada for at least 2 years, it can count for Adaptability points for FSW eligibility, and you'd be able to get the maximum 10 points (+5 for having a relative in Canada).

In a way, it does make you a bit more eligible for Express Entry, but you'd have to qualify with all the other criteria.
