Hello everyone. Sorry for the long post. I am a single mom of a Canadian son nearly 10 years old. The father lives in Canada. In March 2024, I applied for Visitor's visa so I can accompany my son to visit his dad. In May I did my biometrics. I forgot to mention I am from Mauritius (located in Indian Ocean) and I applied through an agent. After months of no reply, I requested the agent to fill in a Web form for an update. In April 2025, I got an email from IRCC Pretoria informing me that the person (the agent) requesting for information is not listed in the file. The agent requested me to sign a representative form which he said he will email IRCC again. Still there was no response and I continued to concentrate on my job and studies. This year I am in my last year of studies and I am doing my dissertation. However the visa application was still on my mind because I was thinking whether a positive or negative reply, atleast there should be a response from IRCC, atleast I know they got my file. Last month while looking for some information on AI, I did asked about the application and so on. So I emailed IRCC in Pretoria and even filled in the form though I was scared because it was not me who did the visa process. After 2 days, IRCC from Pretoria replied to me saying my file is still under review and they will contact me if they need any more information or any decision they have made. In the email I have mentioned that my son is nearly 10 years old and he wants to see his birth country which is true. Last week I got an email from IRCC again requesting an updated proof of funds and invitation letter BUT my plan is not to travel for now. I have emailed my agent to ask for an advice but he did not reply to me. So any of you can advise me what good reason I can give IRCC that I wont travel now because in my email of last month I mentioned my son wants to see his birth country. Can I mention financial situation or I am taken up with my dissertation? Please help me.
