HI

Me and my wife did medicals for my study permit in March 2013 and I have applied for PR in June. So I was wondering IF i can submit the same medical report or should I do another medical exam again. Even though i have submitted the old medical forms with the application, ECAS status does not show "medicals received". I remember reading somewhere that validity of COPR is the validity of medical exam . but there is a chance the processing of my application might extend over march too.

So any suggestions so to should undergo the medical test again?

medical tests are valid for one year.
I would hold out until the date that CIC asks you for your medicals - if you're within that year then let them know they already have them.
The catch is that yes, normally COPR expiry is 1 year from date of medicals. I read about someone on this forum whose application went through a lot of problems and in the end he had just 1 day to do the landing. Depending on where you are in the world/how far from the border you are, I would wait for their request and then decide what you'd like to do.

medicals for temporary and permanent residence applications are the same and definitely can be used for both as long as it is within one year of the medical exam date.
if you get medical request before march 2014 just let cpp-ottawa know that you have already done medicals in march 2013 and show them the receipts they will be able to link the medical results to your PR application using your client id number, full name and date of birth.

I had actually scheduled my appointment with the doctor in Vancouver, but doctor told me that medicals are the same for PR and temporary residence. So he asked me to check with CIC as he said that they are not supposed to medical test again if there is existing valid medical test on file.

the doctor is right like i said.right now no action is needed from you just wait till they request medical then tell them you have already done for your student visa and is still valid.
in general doing upfront medical will not speed up your process if you are thinking that way and most of doctors now a days refuse to do upfront medicals for PR applications since its emedical and you need a barcode from cic so they do not want to deal with sending your paper medical results to the RMC in ottawa.
