Dear Canadians and Ukrainians in Canada!
We are an ordinary family of four living in Ukraine. Unfortunately, since tragic political events have taken place in Ukraine, instability in every sphere of life prevents us from normal being.
Firstly, I would like to ask you for an advice. My husband is a skilled IT-specialist, though his English requires further improvements. I am an economist (finance department) and a philologist (English, Russian and Ukrainian languages). Currently I'm on a maternity leave. Our older son is almost 4, the younger is almost 1 year old. What are our chances to get visas and a permission to immigrate to Canada? What immigration program is better to refer to? Will it be better that only my husband submits documents for visa (at first)?
Secondly, we ask for any help to rescue our family. Does anyone have a chance to provide us with an invitation letter (since we have no relatives abroad)? Will an invitation really help to get visa?
We are ready to work hard and to contribute to Canadian economy. Please, be sure that we are not looking for any material help (money, shelter etc.) I suppose, we will be able to provide ourselves abroad, but intangible assistance is highly appreciated!!!
If you require any additional personal information, we'll be pleased to give it.
We are much grateful for any information or help from your side!
Regards,
Irina

I sincerely doubt that you will be able to claim any form of asylum or refugee status.

1) The situation in Ukraine is not yet critical at an individual level.
2) You have the option to relocate to the area of Ukraine that suits your culture and heritage.
3) You would have to demonstrate that you are personally being targeted. Being "uncomfortable" is not enough.

Like everyone else, you will need to find an official route to immigrate.

I agree with the advice zardoz has given you. You don't qualify as refugees - so that option is out. An invitation letter won't allow you to move to Canada permanently. All an invitation letter will allow you to do is apply for a visitor visa to Canada.

If you are interested in moving to Canada permanently, then you'll need to read through the information in the link zardoz provided in detail to determine if you qualify to apply for permanent residency under any of Canada's immigration programs. It typically helps if you have a job offer in Canada. So if you want to increase your chances of qualifying to immigrate, you can start applying for jobs here through reputable job web sites such as the Canadian Job Bank, monster.ca, workopolis.ca and linkedin.

Good luck.

Zardor and Scylla!
I highly appreciate your advice! Links are also of great importance for us!
Currently I'm studying info on CIC web-site.
In effect, I understand that our case cannot be applied to refugee program. We are going to think over "Skilled workers" option.
Therefore, I've got one more question: In case my husband or I are lucky enough to find an appropriate job offer in Canada, will it be possible for all family members to immigrate? Or only the applicant is allowed to cross the border?
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
Irina

The principal applicant can bring their spouse and dependent children with them. Other family members (e.g. parents, grandparents, non dependent children) cannot accompany.
