hello all,

My father will be applying for citizenship soon. However, since his relocation to Canada, he has never been employed. He has worked his whole life abroad and has relocated to Canada as a retiree (he oversees his business abroad but that is all).

How would we go about proving his time in Canada? He does have some property here from which he receives a modest monthly income.

I imagine this being akin to a housewife applying, and so welcome advice from those with similar experience.

Thanks

He's managing his business from here and he's getting profits somehow, l assume.

In that case most likely he should have filled out Taxes returns.

One important document for citizenship is tax returns, did he fill it?

It's not mandatory to be employed for citizenship.
Simply indicate the truth in the application, just mention retired.
Not an issue

Yes, he files his tax return every year.

I understand that its not mandatory to be employed. My question rather is how to best show proof of his time in Canada.

I think bank statements from Canada, utility bills would be useful in providing physical presence in Canada.. if he has seen doctors in Canada.. health care records do count too..
