Address question

Hi,

About to submit our application and got a question regarding address.

In our our Outland application every address we have provided is our current address in Sweden (except in letter from my parents that states address we will reside at in Canada). Thing is, we will move to Canada while application is still in process and will no longer reside at the address listed on our application. I'm assuming we should inform CIC regarding this? If so, how?

Application will be sent tomorrow and our family will land in Canada on April 3.

Yes...you can submit a change of address and actually you are required to inform CIC when this happens.

However, I suggest that you ensure in your old address that the mail can be forwarded either by the postal service or by someone living at that address...because in my experience no matter how many times we tried to change our address (for the same move) and it was pure luck in the end we were able to get his PR card (I called the CIC call center and asked where the card was mailed to...the old address)

Also, be sure to include an email address that will not change (again, nightmares where people have changed their email address mid-application and important requests / etc have been lost)

Another option is to put a mailing address that won't change, like a close relative...but CIC can then become confused as to where you are residing and there are cases where this has caused complications or even rejection of the initial application package.

Thanks a lot. Yes emails won't change and know a lot of communication goes through this.

Mail can be forwarded to another address her in Sweden, but will have to check for how long.


I just thought since we are including proof of flights for April 3 and proof of living accommodations with address in Canada the customs agent might put 2and2 together that we won't return to address in Sweden. It is very clear in our application we are moving back to Canada permanently.

How do we let CIC know of a address change?

Would it be an idea or possible to put both our mailing addresses as my parents address in Canada and include an explanation? This way our current address would be in Sweden which is the case now, but mailing address would be address in Canada since we will be there in 9 weeks.

As of now we have put our current address and mailing address as our Swedish address.

If you use someone else's mailing address, you need to assign them as your representative.

Put your current residential address (Sweden), then when you have moved, advise the relevant visa office of your change of address (almost certainly you will be 'sponsor approved by April, so forget about Mississauga).

If you put your email address as your preferred communication, they will email you with a PDF attachment advising you of sponsor approval and in the PDF, they tell you what visa office they have sent it on to.

The only thing they will write to you about (rather than message via email of MyCIC if and when you manage to link your application to an account you create), will be the final step - your CoPR.
