Currently everything is online. So we should not change the address if we want to avoid any further delay.
Also few cases(not all) i saw got delayed after they notified about their move to abroad. So no clear instruction we know about how to keep the file active and moving and why few files get stuck with few officers, possibly few officers are putting on hold. So dont inform. Just travel to Canada for test and oath to make it more easier and without delaying your file.

Ok I think everything is messed up now.

So here is what happened.

1. Earlier this year i applied for PR Renewal and i had a mailing address and a residential address which was the same thing i gave in my citizenship form.
2. However when the PR card was sent the operator messed up my address and put half the details from my mailing and residential address thus screwing the delivery address for my renewed PR card.
3. Eventually i felt i will keep the residential address as the mailing address which would avoid confusions and i submitted a webform to do the same.after this whenever i checked my application status i could only see a residential address which was actually my mailing address.
4. In Sep i get an email asking me to confirm my residential address since whatever i gave in the application is different from whatever is present online.
So i send them an email explaining i am in the States with my US address. I also checked with CIC call center and they advised me to keep whatever
i had on file.
5. Now few days ago I read on this forum that someone changed their residential address to US address using webform and I thought maybe i should
do the same.
6. I called the Call center and the lady there just wiped out my residential address and now its showing only the mailing address.
7. Any suggestions what to do?
- Should i revert back to whatever was there in the form?
- Should i give my US Address?

if you have currently Canada address then just leave it as it it. Why are you calling call center to know the address? What is it showing online when you check the application status?

It was just showing my mailing address online.

I am just trying to be thorough and honest with my file. Apparently I have been advised that if I am outside Canada i need to update the proper residential address so right now i am being advised to update the residential address as my US address.

I guess I should have just left it as is but because of the bad experience i had with my PR card getting lost I went through all this drama of address change.

Which country address for mailing and residential?
Residential :- US Address where i am residing currently.

Mailing :- Toronto Address where I want all the mails to be sent ( I understand there are no mails per se, but ofcourse later on there could be some form of paper communication like passport, citizenship certificate etc).

Ok. I am not sure how cic treats your file. We will have to see if others have done it and not delayed. Lets wait for others' comments.

Hello All,

Need a clarification.

After filing for my citizenship application on Jan 2020 I moved to the US (Boston).

Do i need to use the webform to update my Residential address to the US address or do i keep the Canadian Address as is?
Not really an answer to whether "you need to change your Residential Address" or "you should change" or "you might not change" :)

But I did the same. Applied for Citizenship in Sept 2019, got my AOR in Nov 2019, in_process on Jan 07, all this while still being in Canada. And then we moved to US. Around Feb 2020, I used the WebForm to update my Residential and Mailing Address to US address.

Few days later, I got an email that address has been updated and since then my application shows US address.

I have the same feeling, did I do right? Should I have left it as-is.

While I did not receive any communication from IRCC that they have *de-activated* our application or *put-on-hold*.
Considering no movement on our applications for so long does make us wonder though :))

And then I look at people who applied much before us and they are also on tenterhooks, and that calms down some anxiety.

Wish, IRCC was more transparent with regards to Application Status and their processing framework.

So to continue this update further; I called up IRCC today to inquire about current status of my application. And the agent told me that the application is being processed like a normal application and there is no HOLD or anything because of US address update... and that a relief.

Hope the delays are over and we all see the end of the tunnel :D

You should be honest about your residential address. Misrepresenting that you are living in Canada can get you in trouble.
Yes I agree and i have updated my address accordingly. Even if the application has to get delayed i am fine as long as it is truthful and based on facts.
