I am a Canadian citizen and my girlfriend is not. We have been together for one year and we are ready to move our relationship forward together and get married. We have kept records of our constant visits to each other’s cities and messages.

We plan on getting married in Toronto and we are preparing for inland pr application and work visa

1. Would it make a difference to get married sooner then later? Do they also see how long you have been consistently living together?

2. When is a good time to submit inland PR application? Can we submit as soon as she come here Or is it recommended she be living here first for a few months

3. Can we submit for a work visa along with the PR application?

4. In addition to opening a joint bank account and being each other’s benefactors is there a major hurdle like number of days living consecutively together that matters for the application?

5. Can we leave the country on a short honeymoon after we submit PR papers and work visa

6. It’s ok to apply for PR and work visa while she is here on a visitor visa?

Any big tips or help is truly appreciated
Thank you so much everyone !

1. It doesn't make a difference, as many people don't live together until they are married (or sometimes still aren't living together even after they've filed their application, if they are applying outland and the PA is not able to come live in Canada yet). If you are married, they don't really care how long you have been living together. It does change the proof you have to provide with your app (if you're not living together, you have to provide proof of communications/visits/etc, but if you are living together, you do not. Instead, you have to provide proof that you are living together (shared lease/same address on your IDs/etc).

2. You can submit whenever you like, as long as she is physically in Canada when you submit

3. Yes you can

4. No, again, as long as you are married it does not matter if you are living together at all. This is only relevant for common law applicants who are not legally married.

5. It is not recommended to leave until you receive the work visa (about 4 months into the process) because the work visa makes it much easier for her to gain re-entry to Canada

6. Yes you can
