Im sponsoring my spouse on the additional family information form. He has included my step brother and they are not in good terms hes not sure what to write for his bday information? Can he just write unknown?

Any information about siblings that you don't know: just include as much as you do know, then attach a letter of explanation. CIC is used to people not knowing details of step-siblings, so it should not be a problem.
Just don't omit anyone - that can be considered misrepresentation. Much better to list the name, then explain that you have lost touch and don't know the address or birthdate.

I had a lot of unknown info on my family and paid 7.95 for a one month online subscription to Ancestry.com and found everything I needed there. And I hated to pay it because I am cheap! I wouldn't even pay for Word to type my relationship statement ...I typed in gmail and then copied the typing and printed the screen.
