Adding sur name to Indian passport

Hi guys,
My wife landed in Canada last year and what we noticed was she did not have a last name on her Indian passport and Canadian immigration officer inserted her given name as a last name on her canadian Pr cars. We plan on having this fixed this year. However, first we want to add a surname to my wife's passport. Can anyone tell me what the process is for adding a surname on an Indian passport ? I was looking on bls website and they want her Canadian original PR card. I'm
Not sure what should be changed first, her Canadian Pr card or Indian passport .

Anyone done this before ?

I have to do the same as i don't have surname in my indian passport. I will live in BC. I want to do it after citizenship not before.

Don't want to change all documents issued by my home country and Canada.

I hope that i will get BC identity card/service card, SIN etc papers without any hassle.
