Hi,

I applied for CSQ on March 2010 from USA. I have not received the certificate. What about if I get married during the federal step, how can I add my spouse to the application? does she need to start the process from the beginning or only the federal part of it?

Thanks a lot for taking time to answer my question

Yes you can add at the federal part. At various stages they will ask you if you have any changes in family composition like marriage, divorce, child birth, adoption etc. That is when you declare you are married and you will be asked to inlcude your dependant on the application.

Even as late as when they send the PPR they will ask if you anything has changed in your status.

Don't worry there are people who go through this and it is common. CIC cannot expect you not to take these decissions while your file is in progress.

It is always nice to see your reply AlbertaGovernor.
I am just confused in making a wise decision.
I already posted this. I am on H1B status in USA. My visa is expired so I need to stamp my passport. I am not planning to do this.
My fiance may come to the USA on B2 Visa (Visitor). After that we will get married. In that time I may be in the federal process.
She may change her status from B2 to H4.
Is it worth to do it like this way, or wait until I receive the PR, go to canada and then to my country to get married?
Thanks again for your help

If you US visa on the passport has expired that got nothing to do with your H1B status. As long as you have approved I-797 notice with a valid I-94 you should be good to get your spouse a H4 status.

If you plan to go to you country and get married, it will delay the process in comparison to the adding your spouse to the existing application.

It is a valuable information. I will work on getting married here and apply for H4 and then add my spouse to the CSQ.

Thank you,

Im actually going through a similar dilemma here , as i might get married by october or earlier next year.

I got nominated for Ontario Nominee program in the in November '10 and sent my documents to Buffalo in January '11.And now im waiting for AOR.Please note my work permit expires Oct '12
Do you think i should wait for my PR before getting married or marry and update application?

So whats your experience , what stage are you in and how much the delay is like? And at what stage of the application you think is better to update it.
Also please do tell me if the delay is relative to the country of spouse.

I wish you good luck with your PR as well as marriage and hope we get our PR soon.

Hello there,

I am having the same issue. Is there one who can help us. or make some this clear. I am planning to apply to federal in PNP catagory. also planning to get married soon but don't have any fixed date. Just confused, should I wait to get married and applied together or send my application to federal and add my spouse application later?

I am also raising this same Q?

"So whats your experience , what stage are you in and how much the delay is like? And at what stage of the application you think is better to update it.

thanks,

Hello everyone,

This is my first post in this forum.i really appreciated how you all discuss about your application and decision to immigrate to Canada.

I applied to CSQ in July 2009 and i finally got my CSQ in April 2010 as in between there were some documents missing. So had to wait a bit.

Let me summarize it:
- July 2009 : applied for CSQ
- April 2010 i got my CSQ
- June 2010 i applied for PRV in Nairobi
- October 2010 i got my medical
- October 2010 ive added my spouse to BIQ as i got married
- December 2010 ive added my spouse to CHC
- March 2011 i was asked to return the "titulaire" they sent to me went i got my CSQ.

We are 26 April 2011 today and i am still waiting for the CSQ of my husband and I.

I would like to know if this is the normal procedure as it is taking lots of time as my medical will expire in November 2011.

Anyone can share their experience to suggest why it is taking so much of time>

Any comments will be highly appreciated.

Rgds
