Hi guys,

I submitted my application to the federal stage after receiving an Ontario provincial nomination. I received my Acknowledgement of Receipt in March. Recently, I got married and informed IRCC of my change in marital status. Then IRCC sent me an email with a list of required documents for my spouse and mentioned that they could be submitted via webform. Several days later, I received another message in my IRCC account with the similar document list, but this time it stated that I should upload the documents to my secure IRCC account.

When I logged into my account, I saw that some of my existing documents need to be replaced. However, I couldn’t find an option to upload my wife's documents.

Could anyone please advise where I should upload her documents? Thanks a lot!

It might be 2 different requests. For the first one you need to provide documents via web form. For the second you need to update your existing documents.

You’re in a common situation—congratulations on your marriage and for reaching the federal stage of the process!
Here’s how to proceed based on what you’ve described:
IRCC seems to have generated two separate requests:
One by email, directing you to submit your spouse’s documents via IRCC Webform.
  1. One in your IRCC secure account, which mentions uploading documents but doesn’t yet provide a clear way to do so
This sometimes happens when IRCC systems are updating your application to reflect the new family member. Until they add your spouse to your PR application officially, the upload slots for their documents may not yet appear

1. Prepare All Required Documents for Your Spouse:
  • Passport (bio page and all visa/stamp pages)
  • Digital photo
  • IMM5406 (Additional Family Information)
  • IMM5669 (Schedule A)
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Police certificate(s)
  • Proof of relationship (if requested)
  • Other forms requested in the list

2.
Use the IRCC Webform Immediately:
If you haven’t already uploaded anything, use the webform (https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp) to submit your spouse’s documents. Attach all the documents in one submission, and explain the situation clearly:

“I am submitting the required documents for my spouse as per the request received from IRCC following my marital status update. I was informed to use the webform for document submission. My spouse has not yet been added to my online account, so I cannot upload her documents there.”

3.
Monitor Your IRCC Account Closely:
After a few days or weeks, IRCC may
  • Add your spouse to your application
  • Generate a formal “Upload Required Documents” slot for her documents in your account
Once that happens, you may be required to re-upload the same documents through your IRCC account. That’s normal

4.
Avoid Delays by Submitting Now via Webform:
Don’t wait for the account to be updated. Webform submission helps start the process and avoid delays in adding your spouse.
