Adding Spouse during processing- Delay in Application?

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if someone has experience of adding spouse to the file after submitting the application? Did that delay your application (compared to the people who applied around the same time as you)? If yes, please share your timeline.

I am September applicant and I added my Spouse in April, just wondering since lots of October applicants are getting MRs and I am still waiting ???

Mine wasn't delayed. The whole processing was completed in 11 months, order GCMS notes to see the status of your application.

I don't think a lot of October applicants have received their MRs yet, only a few and as per the recent trends its quite normal.

Regarding the delay in application, logically thinking it depends when you added your spouse if it was during the penultimate stage of the application then definitely I would affect the processing time as they would have to do security, criminal, etc. checks for the spouse as well.

Don't worry yours is not an exception...many Sep applicants are stil waiting for MR's. Good Luck

May be yes cause they have to attach your spouse to your file and start her checking too like criminal check, if your spouse didn't complete Medical she has to do that too. But anyway applying while you application process is better than you spencer her after you get the PR so I recommend to add your spouse to your current processing file.

Thanks! I already sent in the documents for my spouse in April! Hopefully his criminal check and background check doesnt take much time. I have ordered GCMS notes, they should arrive by next week, will see if anything is started for him!

I am not sure about adding the newborn baby to the application...but yes you would have to wait for your AOR as they will assign an application # to your case and you can make changes to your application quoting that #

Thanks Pari & Mannte for your inputs

Have sent email to CPP-O with Birth certifcate copy on May 18th, Have sent a reminder email on June 2nd for the change to application.
Would wait for response on which forms i need to fill

Pari, If you can say the forms that were filled by you for your spouse addition - i can start filling those forms and keep it ready - as i see dependants addition to application could be the simillar for spouse and kid
