For your info:

Received H1B Alberta PNP approval in November 2009. In March 2010 submitted CIC application with the approval letter to Canadian Consulate in Buffalo, NY.

Got married in April 2010.

Then emailed Alberta to update my Alberta nomination letter.

After 3 days Alberta Immigration replied with an email, saying "If you have been issued a Certificate of Nomination, the AINP will not add a new spouse to the application. You must notify Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) about the change of your family composition. "

Yes! You must advise CIC about the change in your marital status and submit revised forms that include your spouse. Your spouse also must submit IMM 008 and Schedule 1/Background Declaration and I think IMM 5406 as well as the other requirements per the checklist for your embassy/visa office. Do this ASAP.
