Hi all, received an email from ottawa today asking for court/police records. My ACRO police certificate showed me as no live trace - I was cautioned as a minor when I was 14 for theft (of a bloody nail varnish, I know stupid)
I am assuming they need a subject access request so I have applied for one today. Here's the thing. It says on the email I have 30 days to provide the info or they will go ahead and process my application without it which might result in rejection. ACRO website say it can take upto 40 calendar days.
Of course now I am officially freaking out. Does anyone have any experience with this? How long roughly does it take, should I prepare for the worst and expect a 40 day processing time?

Email your VO now and let them know it will take 40 days to obtain what they are asking for.

FYI, I did this and they replied saying I should contact them closer to the deadline if I hadn't received the necessary documents.

Maybe every VO is different, as I've seen people who wait until closer to the deadline told they should've asked for more time when they realized it could take longer. IMO it won't hurt to simply update the VO that the normal processing time exceeds the time given and that it could take longer.

I totally agree. I'm glad I emailed them, but was just warning that they might not extend the deadline until nearer to the time.

Hi - Did you declare the caution on your Esta out of curiosity? I didn't think cautions would be treated like a criminal conviction.
Also, did you get your issue sorted?
