Online, it updates the status of your application once you've been accepted to sponsor. Next step, sending the application to the chosen visa office (for us, its Paris)

what I want to know is , will the website update once they received the file in paris to let us know they received it there?

and also, if we changed the applicants passport should we contact the paris visa office once the website says they received the application there? or should we send the updated info to the mississauga office?

Sadly, no it won't. Ecas is not very reliable as it is. Mine still says application received but Ottawa tells me the file is in process.

same as mine.
still says app received. but it has been at our visa office for almost 4 months already.. so i would hope its already in process..

and as for the passport.
yes you should mail your visa office a photocopy of the new passport and the passport number
aswell make sure on the envelope to clearly state your file number. so they can match it up with your application
:)

oh really? so how do you know for sure that its at the visa office? if you call, will they tell you that its there?

usually they send out an AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) either by mail or email. telling you they received it.
BUT those arent always consistent either.
we never recieved one and i know of a couple other people from different visa offices that never received one either.

so we dont even know if they have it. but im assuming they do because cic has to send stuff certified because it contains personal information. so i have a good feeling they have it. just our AOR was never sent or lost in the mail.

anyways some visa offices you can call and ask.
mine you cant. they dont really tell you much over the phone.
but i sent them an email recently just to be absolutly sure ,hopeing they will write back just telling me they have it to stop my worrying mind.

:)

For me Ecas doesnt even work .. it say cant not find file, but the AOR email i have says differently .. my VO isnt very reliable either, cant really call them.

For Paris I believe you can call them, I would wait at least a week after your file is sent

actually sometimes ours doesnt work either.

some days ill log in just fine. and other days it comes up error file number not found.. so its very unreliable.

i agree i think paris is easier to contact and alot more reliable than some of the other offices..

Once a sponsor is approved, CIC has no reason to sit on a file. They are dispatched to the visa offices for processing within 10-14 days, depending on the frequency of diplomatic mail movements to the various countries from Ottawa (the files make a pit-stop at CPP-O before being sent off).

If you have been approved to sponsor, assume your file is on its way to your VO. Most will not bother acknowledging they have received the file, that's just the reality of it. Some offices will request passports early in the process as part of processing, such as New Delhi and Manila, so applicants going through those offices will know for sure their files are received fairly soon after they have been received. For the rest of us, we just have to trust to CIC's procedures.

If you want to know for sure, wait 6-8 weeks following your approval to sponsor, and email the visa office asking for your file number. You might get an answer. Or, you might not.

thanks all for your help:)

you go on faith and hope your VO is one that does give at AOR's.......no they will probably not tell you as most VO's have a do not disturb date which basically is don't bother us until you have waited so long and have not heard from us......
