Hi Everyone,

I have a very specific question regarding what type of IELTS will my wife get, ACADEMIC or GENERAL?

Here is our situation, I am planning to apply as INTERNATIONAL STUDENT to Canada and bring with me my wife and our daughter who will turn 3 y.o. this month. My wife will have an OPEN WORK PERMIT and I will study for 2 years in Canada. Our plan is, after I graduate, we will apply for Permanent Residency and once we get approved hopefully, my WIFE will then STUDY in a University or College in Canada also.

Our question is, what type of IELTS should my wife take here in our home country? ACADEMIC or GENERAL?

As of now, we are starting our IELTS review in our home country. They say that IELTS exam is much expensive in Canada that's why we will get our IELTS exam here.

1. I think that you are "putting the cart before the horse"
2. First see if you are going to be issued a study permit and your wife and child TRV before you make any plans regarding IELTs for her in the future.

Both would be fine since she is not planning to study now but after 2 years if she has academic IELTS some institutions might even accept her with expired IELTS so to answer your question General would be fine but academic is a better option
