Abu Dhabi Passport Request

Hello,

I am currently awaiting decision to be made on my wife's sponsorship application. My timeline is as follows

Medicals Done: August 12, 2015
Application Sent: October 17, 2015
Application Received: October 20, 2015
AOR: Dec 9, 2015
Started processing application: Dec 8, 2015
Sponsorship Approval: Dec 16, 2015
Applicant ecas updated to "In Process": January 11, 2016
Started processing: January 11, 2016

About a month ago I contacted my MP to contact Abu Dhabi to inquire about my wife's case and to have them expedite it since my wife is in a country that's not safe due to war. The MP's office got in touch with CIC and they informed them that the officer is satisfied with the relationship and that within a week or so passport should be requested as long as background and security checks clear.

My question is as follows. I currently have my wife's passport because there is no courier in the country to send to Abu Dhabi. Is it possible for me to mail the passport to Ottawa (Since I'm in Canada now) instead of Abu Dhabi? Or do I have to mail it to Abu Dhabi once they request it.

My process started around the same time as yours. Medicals have been received by CIC. Waiting for their Decision.

I am just not entirely sure where my process is being done. I am a UAE Resident but my Mrs is in Canada and she applied from there. I know that Ottawa does not process the documents which is why it must have been sent to a VO outside Canada, but I really don't know where. I hope it is Abu Dhabi.

Anyway, regarding your question which you asked a month ago, if you have not received anything yet as an answer, CIC will contact the applicant to let him/her know where to send the passport with instructions. So don't worry about that process. You will be guided by them.

Can you share any updates? Have you heard back from them? How do you manage to get an MP?

Have you heard anything from CIC yet? Did you manage to receive a Passport Request?

I was reading your post again and it sounds like you are quite fortunate if you are to receive or have already received a Decision. Your MP must have been very helpful.

I am very eager to know what updates you have because I too am in a similar place with a similar timeline. And if your MP's call to the CIC helped with the process, than I might ask my wife as well to contact her MP as well.

So please give me your update. I would really appreciate it.
