About to submit PR - husband denied entry to Canada after he overstayed his Visitors VISA

I feel like I am on a sinking ship.

My AMERICAN husband was here for a little over a year. When we applied to extend his visitors visa the extension got denied - his own fault - he didn't include ANY supporting paperwork with the application.

He went back to the states for a MONTH after he was given an allowed to leave and then tried to come back with a letter stating he had residence in the US and a confirmation of a job. AGAIN they denied him entry to Canada (he was given an allowed to leave). The officer told him to START working and trying again in a few weeks once he had a few pay stubs to show he's been working. The officer also wasn't impressed with the fact that he had a letter from his friend whom he's living with (we can't afford for him to rent a place).

With him being gone I've had to put our 9 month old son into daycare full time (I'm working full time) and our 5 year old daughter in before and after school care. Combined this is costing me over $1,200 a month.

Does anyone have any hope for me to get him home so that I can take my son out of daycare? Financially I am sinking. He started working but his buddy has said he can't stay there forever (he likes his privacy). Constant trips back and forth to see each other is also costing a TON of money. I hate that my 9 month old son is only getting to see his dad every 2 weeks.

Any suggestions/stories etc. to lift my spirits are appreciated.
Suddenly being a single mom to 2 kids and 2 dogs and working full time is slowly killing me... Plus I've re-torn my shoulder and struggle to do daily tasks while I wait to see a surgeon. (Yay OHIP...)

Get the Outland PR app in asap. Then he can try to enter Canada again, but have proof of the PR app submitted (so proof fees were paid, delivery notice to IRCC, etc). CBSA can be more lenient with people that already have PR app in process.
Also do as the CBSA officer suggested, to start working and get an employment letter saying such.

Unfortunately there is no guaranteed way. Next time he tries to enter, it will be entirely at discretion of the CBSA officer he encounters. No doubt he is already flagged on their system.

We were going to wait 2 more weeks so that he has 2 pays stubs. I am waiting on my marriage certificate to send PR, today is 9 weeks... they say 10 so I am HOPING it comes soon. The application is completely filled out minus a couple of letters from family.

Given his refusals, he should not attempt entry again until you guys have actually submitted the PR app and he can show CBSA that he is following the proper procedure to legally live in Canada.

I agree with this. I would wait until your PR application is submitted and you have your receipt. It is always up to the border agent to say yes or no, and I had some issues also crossing back and forth. I had proof of rent payments, marriage license, all our IRCC documents (receipt, AOR1, SA, AOR2, sent to Mississauga, etc.) & utilities under my name still in the states. The first time I crossed I only had my marriage certificate and receipt (on my phone, not a hard copy) and they gave me a lot of trouble. The second time I came through I had tons of documentation/proof I still lived in the states and once I told him we were being processed at Mississauga he didn't ask for any proof and waived us through. Some of the border agents are super nice and some of them are not quite so nice.
