About to submit post ITA application but Passport expires this year in August

Hi All,

I have received the ITA for Canada express entry and will be submitting the application and documents post ITA in the coming days. However, the passport that I used for the online application will be expiring this year in August.

Is this going to be a problem for me? Any guidance here will be much appreciated.

That’s not gonna be an issue Ali, you can submit the application with your current passport and apply for a new passport in parallel.
As soon as you get the new passport upload those details (include the new passport copy) via a case specific enquiry via the webform
 
This is such a relief! So this case specific query will be done from the same portal I use to apply for the express entry?
 
Here is my own question, my own passport will expire july, 2019. I want to renew my passport. Am from Nigeria. Should I go ahead bcs am expecting my ITA this month Jan. 2019. Is it appropriate for me to renew now since the passport will expire July, 2019. Any reasonable comment will be appreciate. Thanks

just so I get this right, I will use the dropdown option in the link and select the 'Replacement documents, amendments to documents and verification of status documents' to report change in my passport, correct?

And this I can do after my application has been accepted?

You can select any option and explain in the box what you are trying to do. It will be done a few weeks/months after you receive an acknowledgement of receipt (post submission)

You can renew now, yes and use the new passport when filling in your express entry profile.
 
That's remind me, am not the principal applicant. My wife is the principal applicant. Her own passport will expire next year Feb. 2020
