Passport Req..

Just to give some background, My girlfriend and I have lived together in Canada for more than 1 year. She is Korean and came here on a tourist visa. So at the end of 6 months we took a trip to the States and got her passport stamped for another 6 months (it was scary but worked out well). We took a trip to Seoul in July to get all of her documents in order. After which, we returned to Montreal and since July have been preparing all the documents for permanent residence. We are hoping to send in this huge pile of documents by the end of the week. We just realized that an important document is missing. My girlfriend is going back to Korea next week so she will be able to send me the missing document. I have two questions:

1. Would you send in the application anyways and then send in the missing document as soon as I get it OR wait until she sends it to me and then send the whole package together? I was thinking of sending it off without the document because they will evaluate me as a sponsor and send it to Quebec first. So I could send in the document even before they would notice it was missing. But I am not sure...
2. This question is for those who have applied for common law with a Korean partner. The document that is missing is Old (deleted) Family Census Register. What the heck is that document? I found the translation for my girlfriend but she has no idea what it is... Help!

I think it depends on what document is missing and also VO. I did not send police certificates with the original application because I had no idea if I can get them all in the same time frame (they have to be sent in within 3 months of the date of issue) and the first stage was approved without problem. But I read in this forum that some applications have been returned due to missing police certificate. If it is something you can obtain within a few weeks, I would wait. But it is your call, of course.

Thanks Ana,

I could probably get it in a few weeks at most. I am still torn...

Also, another question how did everyone organize their pictures? Just tape them to letter sized paper?

I wrote dates and explanations on the back of each picture then bundled them with an elastic and threw them in the envelope and never had a problem... I think it is personal preference but dont put them into any sort of album...

I also strongly recommend waiting until you have the document before sending in your application. CIC stresses they only want complete applications so it doesn't make sense to send it in knowing you are missing vital information. And it is not that easy to forward a document after the app is sent (meaning within the first 2-3 months). The reason I say this is because more than likely you will not hear from CIC right away. They assign you a file number but you won't be aware of that number until they contact you close to your approval date. You would not want to send in one lonely document without a file number to address it to. Just my best advice. Play it safe and send it in all together. Good luck!

no.....don't tape them....the guideline specifies they are to be loose.......if you are sending 4x6 prints many people separate them into envelopes and put a timeline outside of the envelope..many people write on the back of every picture......others use a print program and put 4 to 6 pictures per page and put a caption under each.....
