Hello,

I am also planning to immigrate to Canada and apply for the Permanent Resident in Quebec Province. I did my undergraduate in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA), both from U.S. universities. Currently, I am in the U.S. in OPT and my wife is in India. My wife holds Bachelor degree and have 3-4 years of experience of work.
Is it possible if I apply both of us from U.S.?
Do do we both have to be present in the U.S. for the interview process?
Or, Can I apply from the U.S. and my wife from India?
I do not have any relatives in Canada.
We both are planning to learn French language as soon as possible.
Please suggest me with the best suitable options.

Hello,

Hi Sam, Good to hear that and welcome on board!

Yes you can apply from US for both. You as a principal applicant and your wife being dependent.
Do do we both have to be present in the U.S. for the interview process? - You can have your interview in US and she can have her interview in Hong Kong BIQ.
Or, Can I apply from the U.S. and my wife from India? - She doesn't need to apply separately.
I do not have any relatives in Canada. - If your other factors are strong, You can qualify without having them in Quebec as well but they earn you up to 5 points.
We both are planning to learn French language as soon as possible. - That is a very good and important thing. You can earn up to 6 points by achieving Level A2.
Please suggest me with the best suitable options.

I hope that helps. Thanks

Hello fReSco,
At first thank you for replying on this thread.
I still have some questions and confusions.
So, at least my wife should go to Hong Kong for her interview if I apply from here?
Can you please explain me the process.
Since my wife has done her bachelors degree and have 3-4 years of experience, Can she apply as a principal applicant and me as a dependent because I do not have enough work experience?

Thank You

Hi Sam,

It depends. The one of you who score the more points should apply for the CSQ. If you apply from India, then you send your application to HongKong BIQ. If you apply from US then there are different BIQs to deal different regions in US.

First thing is to calculate your points here: http://www.form.services.micc.gouv.qc.ca/epi/index.jsp?languageCode=en
Evaluate yourself online and find out who is the strong candidate and then just go for it.

Cheers

Me being the primary applicant, points is 70
My wife being the primary applicant, point is 72

The main concern here is, if i apply from US and my wife apply from India, Do we have to be together for the interview or not?

No You don't need to. You can attend it in the BIQ that deals in your country of residence and your wife will attend her interview in the BIQ that deals in her country of residence which is Hong Kong for the India btw.
