Sam this is very stressful and many of us wish we did not have to go through all of the waiting, worrying and wondering so you are not alone. However there are many more cases of "mean" as you called it where people are waiting years, children are separated from a parent and other examples. Your circumstance has been relatively fast based on immigration standards.

Your post does not contain enough details for other members to advise or suggest too much in the way of help or support. Looks like you and your partner/spouse were approved to sponsor and now you are waiting to see if the PR application was approved - is that correct?

If you can answer a few questions to provide a bit more detail on your situation, then hopefully someone on the forum who has been through the same (or similar experience) will assist.

Are you the sponsor or applicant; is your file being processed inland or outland; what Visa Office is processing your file; what country is the applicant from; did the applicant have to have an interview and/or is there anything unusual about your file (given both of your backgrounds) that may have caused any concern to immigration in your opinion?

If you want to reply and give more information one of us will try to help. Blessings

the "letter" you would have received would have been the sponsor eligibility letter received by the sponsor. it would have been received by email or mail. if it was received by email, then a letter would not have been sent. the email IS the "letter".

if the applicant's ECAS is saying your application is "in process", this is good news and generally means a visa officer started working on your file. the applicant will not receive any notification from the visa office unless something specific is needed. how long your application stays in process depends on which visa office is processing the application.

Thanks For reply..
Visa officer is New Delhi and its family Class .

then you will want to do research in the new dehli applicant thread. they will most likely have a spreadsheet that tracks progress, and will let you know how long the "average" wait time is after sponsor approval or the applicant's ECAS changes to "in process".

Sam, you only answered 2 out of the 6 questions :) so keep in mind the information you get back is only as good as the info. you provide!

rcohen2014 is right - there is a NDVO thread (I have included the link below). It may be better for you to go there and see the experiences of others. It's a busy Visa Office (VO) so there are probably many more experienced members and their spreadsheet (hopefully they have an updated one) will give you a good idea of some of the timeline trends.

This link above will take you to the most recent 2015 post (or the last page) of the thread so you can read back from there. Normally a spreadsheet link is at the bottom of a persons post (the way you see a link to our VOs spreadsheet at the bottom of my posts). So keep reading back a few pages and you should generally come across a member or two that keep it up to date. If you don't see one, just submit a new post asking for it. If someone is collecting the data they may ask for yours as well. The more info. in the spreadsheets the more helpful it is to all of the folks whose files are being processed at the respective VO.
