About cancellation of Work Permit

I have originally promised an offer from a Canada university and I have successfully applied the Permit.

Recently, I got a job offer in Switzerland and I would like to go there. I am going to cancel the Canada offer. That said, I have to give up the Permit. Is this allowed? Any consequence?
