about bank draft!

hi everybody,
just want to ask that whether there is any way to find out that my foreign currency draft to pay the RPRF landing fee has been cashed yet or not because in foreign currency draft as soon as the bank issues the draft the money gets debited from the account, is there any way to check that they have cashed it from CIC end or not??

You can ask your bank to check if your bank draft was cashed or not. I had the same question and then I went to my bank and the checked it for me and my check was cashed in september 2008. So ask your bank they will tell you right away.

I think you can check it only if your bank has some connection with where the bank draft is to be cashed. I made mine at HSBC UK and because they have a global network they made it in the name of HSBC Canada, so it wasnt too difficult to confirm in my case.

hmmm... they definitely have how to check it - because they have to account for the transfer in their books!

Go to another branch or to the branch you made the draft from, instead if you are calling toll free number. All they have to do is to check on their computer to see if it is cashed and they can also tell you that who cashed it.

Just to let you know, if the draft is lost in the mail, the issuing bank has the ability to give you a full refund if the draft is not cashed, SO they have the ability to check this, they are lazy and are just not telling you.

Have you tried calling HSBC's Bank Draft processing centre in Coventry?

thank u all for your replies, today also i went to the Hsbc branch and called the telephone banking also but still getting the same answer that they can not check this and they are saying to contact the people to whom u have paid that draft to, still bit lost what to do, because i think it is next to impossible to get this confirmation from the embassy.

Do not panic, just wait for the PPR. IF they received it, they will cash it. I know there are ways for the bank to check this, however they are not telling you because they might have to call the clearing bank and they may not have this policy unless you claim it is lost.

If you sent the draft through a courier service, just ensure it was delivered to the CIC. They will cash it and send you the PPR soon.. Relax...

thanks a lot well i have send it through my consultants, so therefore i am cent percent sure that it was safely delivered to chc, well i think the only thing i can do for the time being is to wait for there reply.
