Hi
We go PR cards and came back to home country . We did not get the Alberta health cover. Planning to go back in 4 months later... during that time if there is a pregnancy ..if we go and get the Alberta health , will the pregnancy be covered ? Because we get the card only after within the pregnancy time?

You didn’t qualify to apply for Alberta health cards when you did your short landing. Yes you will have coverage when you return to Alberta if you plan to settle there and remain in Alberta for over 6 months. If you plan on moving to another province within those first 6 months you could be asked to repay any healthcare you used. To qualify for maternity payments you need to have worked for 600 hours in the year before you have a baby. It can also be hard to find employment when already visibly pregnant or just very sick and tired at the beginning of a pregnancy. I would encourage you to get established in Canada before getting pregnant. There are many medical expenses that are not covered by provincial healthcare like medication so it would be a good idea for you and/or your spouse to get a job that hopefully has healthcare benefits first. Unfortunately pregnancy is not always smooth sailing. You and your spouse could have to take time off work. It is better to be a bit established before you have to navigate potential issues.
