A Quick and Hopefully Easy Commonlaw Question

Good afternoon all!

So my wife and I recieved our approval of sponsor/request for additional documents! Horray! This came 15 months after our app was recieved.

One question - her package requests, in addition to police/medical, a IMM5409 - Declaration of Commonlaw form. As we applied as commonlaw, but were legally married in August, we are legally married now - would a copy of our marriage certificate suffice? We submitted that when we obtained it to update our file, but apparently this was never reflected on our application.

Marriage is better than common law in the eyes of CIC. Send your marriage certificate along with a letter explaining what you did here.

See what your region-specific guide says. I think they do want the original, but they will return it afterwards.

I didn't send in the original copy- i had it true copied and affidavit which i was told by CIC that it was fine. I went to ServiceBC to get the document copied and signed
