Hi all,

I received a letter from NY office requesting two documents, IELTS and the evidence that I have completed a program of study in Canada. They gave me 120 days to send them the two documents with the condition that in case I don't my application will be assessed on the basis of the information that is already on the file.

I can take the IELTS test, so it is not a problem. But my question is regarding the second one.

Here is what I did when submitting my application in last May. I am in a PhD program, and having completing my coursework (4 semesters) I started a fulltime work. Yes, I haven't completed my program. But I thought I fulfilled the 16 month requirement (4 semesters).

My question, I guess, is this: I am going to send my IELTS score but I am going to write a letter explaining that I have finished my coursework but haven't completed the program, but after the coursework stage I have more time and started a fulltime work. Do you think if there will be any chance that they would approve my application? Is there anyone who had a similar situation as mine?

Your comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you haven't completed your schooling in Canada, then I think you have a large problem.

Oh no... well, you have to have completed a degree (along with at least 2 years of education and one year of post-graduation work experience) to qualify in the post-grad category of CEC... otherwise, you need 2 years of full-time work experience at the time of application.

Your only chance of being approved is if the visa office made a mistake, and it doesn't look like this got by them...

Well, you can apply again to CEC after 2 years of full-time skilled employment. Or when you graduate, depending where you live, you can apply through the PNP program (Ontario, for example, has a program for PhD graduates).

Yea... it's "oh no..." Thanks a lot for your advice. I don't know what to do, but I think I'm just going to send my IELTS and a letter that explains my situation. I will let you know later if it works out. Again, thanks!

I think you can only apply when you FINISH your degree plus 1 year of work experience AFTER finishing your degree. Might think about applying again after 1 year
