Oh my god 5 years!!!?? Is she in Canada already? or she is applying from outside of the country as a skilled worker? keep in mind that inland applications as sponsored by spouse take an average of 11 to 16 months nowadays if the application is straightforward

What country is your wife from?

My wife is from austria. She applied outside of canada, like i said 5 yrs ago. We are frustrated at the moment, because i am here, and she is there. What should we do? Any suggestions?
Grateful for any informations or tips.

Hi again,

what a shame, 5 years!! This is ridicoulous to say the least. Anyway....
the application for spousal sponsorship through Vienna, Austria is currently 9 months on average +38 days for assessment of sponsorship. this may be faster or longer, it depends if there may be problems w your application. see link below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp

If you want to apply from Canada (inland process), she may come at the border and enter as a tourist. Austrians are exempt from obratining a visa. then she would apply sponsored by you from within Canada. you have to send the application to vegreville, alberta. minimum processing time 10 months maximum 18 months. average is 12-13 months these days...
Probably she would have to withdraw her previous skilled worker application before being able to apply. I'm not sure of this , try to enquire this with CIC

see link below for inland spousal applications:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

you also have to take into considerations that new regulations apply for spousal sponsorships
Have you known your wife for a long time? If you have just met her and married her recently this may rise suspicion on genuiness of relationship....and this may add years to your application just for them to book you an interview

The best would be to enquire if her skilled worker application is at a final stage and then decide. if it is in the final stage it is not worth to reapply in another class....

Hope this helps

How to know, in which stage her application is?
Vienna is not giving any response. All is so confusing.
I think we are going to argentina. ;D

Are u serious , going to argentina? I lived in argentina for 8 years. had a greta experience, great business but it took me almost 8 years to get a full PR....jajajajaj just when i was going to leave

Pre Bill C-50 applications for FSW have NO priority anymore. Some are still in process aft 7 years. You could apply to sponsor her as your spouse. When they are ready to issue the PR spousal visa, she can withdraw the FSW application. Or she could apply again under the new FSW program if she meets the criteria.

she can also come to Canada to stay with u and u could still apply outland (through Vienna embassy); the waiting time is less and u can wait together :) but if she's in Canada with tourist visa she cannot work until the process is finished and also in case of interview she needs to be able to travel back to Vienna

Hi,
would she come as a tourist, and still apply from the outside, how long can she stay with me? The 6 month, or longer?

yes the application would b processed in Vienna (the 2nd part) while she's waiting as a tourist in Canada with you

i'm not in this situation but there are plenty others who are....search a little (outland while waiting in Canada) or start a new thread; from what i know: yes the visit visa is 6 months in general but the officer could put an expiry date for less (probably not considering she's Austrian); after 6 months u could apply for extension but not sure abt the chance of getting it; anyhow, the most important when she comes as a visitor is that she proves that she's coming temporarily to Canada, she shows ties with Austria (house, job), planned approximate departure date from Canada (safer to have her ticket both ways)

in general the ones who can avoid inland they do (others they do it inland because they cannot leave from Canada and come back since they need to apply for visit visa from before and they never get it); the big disadvantage of inland is that in general is slower (check the timelines - inland vs Vienna VO), the applicant cannot leave Canada (in case she is not let back in, the application is lost) AND there's no appeal right....

since she's Austrian, u r part of the lucky ones, u can both easily visit each other and stay with each other for as long as u want (more or less :) ) while the application is in process

good luck!!
