Background: I am an undergraduate here on an Open Work Permit, based in Vancouver. Apologies if this isn't the right sub for this question.

So I recently applied for a job and was given an offer. My potential employer and I were planning to meet at a later date to do my criminal record check, and they needed to see my work permit.

Unfortunately, in between the time I applied for that job and our first meeting, I lost the original copy. This was extremely careless on my part, and I've already filed a police report and subsequently applied for a replacement, however I did make copies before it was lost.

What I wanted to ask was: Is it possible to bring said copy to my employer? Would they be able to accept that?

The only thing I can think of doing is to get a Verification of Status document since that may take less time. I'm also planning on heading to service Canada later this week to see if there's anything they can do for me.

Thanks a ton in advance if you guys can provide any advice. Have a good one!
