A celpip LS test question please

it says we have 40 seconds to record and finish our answer. does this mean that the 40 seconds start the moment we get our questions? or can we wait and prepare for like 15 sec before recording for 40 seconds?

Thank you for reply. I have one more question. On exam's official homepage, it suggests us to speak as much as we can, however, how about if I speak too much and I can't finish it in 40 seconds?

You have to speak as much as you can within 40 seconds... And plan to speak relevant to question in first two statement and later you can give some example if needed. It will be good if you speak in complete statements not short statements.

It was my experience during celpip test, got 5H

whatever you speak , it should be grammatically correct with good and natural vocabulary . I even ended 20 seconds in few of them but with correct formation of sentence.

If you exceed the time, it will consider your recording within the time limit. It happened to me while speaking but it didn't affect much. I scored 5H. Take a moment think about your response and speak clearly. Good luck

I would say, don't worry about using up all of the available time. If you can give a complete and correct answer, and it only takes up half the time, then this should be enough.

I'm a native speaker and scored 5H.

Also, your subject says "CELPIP LS" - are you referring to the CELPIP test called General-LS? Because this is not accepted for Canadian Experience Class.

Just a head's up, once you hit the "stop recording" button (or whatever it is called), you can't start up the recording again.

So when you get the question, think about your response before you hit the record button, then speak, and then hit the stop record button.

It doesn't seem to be that difficult to get a passing score. I butchered just about every response and I still received a 5H. I have my doubts regarding the examiner's own English proficiency skills....
