Hi everyone! I would like to know which visa is required for a 6 months Physician observership. The Hospital where I'm going to stay said me that I do not need to apply for a study permit as it is an observership. The observership is founded by my Institution. As I want to go with my family (Spouse and son), I would to make sure which visa is more appropriate. We are from Spain.
Many thanks

What province? Do you have approval with provincial College of Physicians, if required? Are you being paid? If you are citizens of Spain, you may only need ETAs.

Short-term students in a foreign health care program – [R186(p)] – Authorization to work without a work permit – International Mobility Program - Canada.ca

Thank you Naturglrl !!!
The province is Ontario and I do not have the approval with provincial College, just an invitation letter from the department where I'm going to have the observership. Should I ask for it? They just said that I have to get a registration from the Medical Education Office few days in advance.
No I'm not going to get money from their Institution (just my funding)
Many Thanks!

You would need some letter from the hospital proving observership.

Dear Naturgrl, I was applying for visa and I was wondering if the observership may be considered as a training (< 6 months) and not as a study stay exempt form study permit. I'm going to be en external observer/authorized guest which is a non-hospital medical learner or a non-hospital staff applying for a shadowing experience at this hospital only. Any idea about this? Many thanks!

IMO you just need an eTA and not a study permit. However you would still want to have the letters from the hospital proving observership when you enter Canada.

How old is your child? I don't think they'll be able to attend school while they are here. That may not matter depending on their age.

Make sure you take out private insurance to cover yourself and your whole family since you won't have coverage under Canada's health care system.

1. The OP should note that s/he will probably require a medical "observing" in a hospital setting.
