Anybody here lives in Winnipeg? It's -34 C there. How does it feel? Still think Canada feels like heaven? This is hell, boys! Ha ha ha.

Right now it's -18 C in Ontario. It'll be -23 tonight. I am now wondering whether I should go to the gym today. This is f--king hell.

What are you talking about? Winnipeg is just one part of Canada. Right now it's in the positive side - 5 C in Vancouver though.

Get enough coffee this morning, Steaky? I was responding to the OP talking about how cold it was in a couple various places in Canada. Canada is referred to as "The Great White North", that means the entirety of Canada, not just part of it.

-21C in Toronto this morning. I commute to work and walk about 500 meters to and from the bus station.

Not too bad.

Just wear these:
Feet: Waterproof shoes (snow melts when you're inside) + normal socks
Legs: Light inner layer/long johns + regular pants
Torso: Cotton T-shirt + Wool Sweater + Winter jacket
Neck: IMPORTANT! Scarf that you can use to cover up to your face, if there's windchill
Head: IMPORTANT! Toque that can cover your ears!
Hands: Thinsulate gloves

Put lots of lotion on your body/hands and moisturizer on your face/lips

-28C and below:
Stay indoors haha

OP's tears would be undoubtedly frozen in Winnipeg.

I am relaxing on a beach in Thailand.

Canadian passport is the only thing this country is good for.
Which actually makes it better than Thailand by default.

There's zero reasons to be in Thailand, never mind have a Thailand passport.

If I want to be scammed by a terrible tourist industry, I'll check out Greece. Same crap with seedy cities, except their beaches are safer and service isn't complete crap with them trying to lure you into the garbage parts of large towns.

You are an ignorant racist fool and have no clue. Standard of living here is much better than in Canada even for native Thais. You would of course never know that by watching NFL on your 51 inch plasma. It's ok.... while I am enjoying beautiful women and warm weather here you are making sure that my CPP and pension plan is well funded by the time I claim it. Please do not leave Alberta.

Keep working!

I've been to Thailand, it sucks. It's a tourist trap with more pleasant than average weather. Thankfully there are plenty of better countries to visit. But rather than sit there and play the anecdotal game, let's go third party:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Human_Development_Index
Thailand #101 (just above the great countries of Gabon and Suriname)
Canada #11 (which is pretty low for Canada)

http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/world-top-ten-quality-of-life-map.html
Canada #6

Where's Thailand?

http://www.numbeo.com/quality-of-life/rankings_by_country.jsp

Yeah, Thailand is so awesome LOL.

It ranks behind Greece. GREECE. Haha. The country that, outside it's tourist areas, piles up garbage as high as houses during common strikes and goes weeks without electricity. Thailand sucks dude. What have you been smoking to even attempt and trollpost to say that Thailand standard of living is anything comparable?

I've got to side with the expatriate, here -- life in rural Thailand is awesome, it is in my opinion the best place to live in the world. If I didn't want anything better for my kid and his future, I'd be there now. Too bad it's not all villages, though, Bangkok and the central government are still going to manage to ruin it somehow. If only Thais could figure out a way to treat each other better . . .

Hence the prejudice. You have been had as a tourist. Was it a ladyboy? Sorry for your loss.
I appreciate that you take no argument with the objective links provided that affirm your assertions that Thailand has a higher quality of life is typical I-troll-random-forums-because-Canada-hurt-my-feelings garbage and nothing to be taken seriously. Canada will be fine, and you just might be too if you can muster the self confidence to move on.

Count me in. I came too from Deep South to Great White North (Winnipeg) in Nov 2013. While last time, I was in Toronto it felt more like upstate NY or Chicago kind of weather but nothing can beat the Winnipeg cold. It was bone chilling -50C few days ago. Winnipeg is by far the coldest city (population around 0.7 million) with significant population in North America. The December average was -21C. Even Calgary gets moderated by the Chinooks, not here in the Praires. Only reason I came here, I got a good job that pays much more than I expected in Canada.
